"Perhaps it is the trembling with which we begin and end, while our eyes suck at the sky in the rhythm of a language without personal ownership: copper, cinnamon, a turquoise flyweight, say the airial roots, and we atomise in the hummingbird's fan of light, in non-stop flight, jet lag: three grams of flight tones and intoxication, variations in Kalliope's voice. And so we remain in the air, in a loop without a dead end, while the landscape moves on below us.

(translated - German original by Jürgen Nendza "...sagen die Luftwurzeln" - )

Three in one - MUSIC_ART_SPEECH is a format that brings artists from different disciplines together to create a performative evening.

Name: Physarum Polycephalum / Shape: shapeless, changeable, multi-headed / Size: up to 2 square metres / Special characteristics: can solve complex tasks efficiently and survive for 2 years in resting mode

In our encounter, we were inspired by the fascinating single-celled organism Physarum Polycephalum. A living organism without cell walls that is neither animal, fungus nor plant. Even when it divides it always remains connected and can come together again.

We form a common body that grows, changes and unfolds. In this way into new realms ...

In this Vertical Dance research I deal with the theme of Vertigo and experiment with different facets of vertigo.

I explore the Vertical Dance and deepen my practice, visit workshops, companies and enter into exchange with practitioners in order to incorporate my findings playfully and aesthetically in my further work.

How do we come together, how does a familiar togetherness develop? What role do our personal space and boundaries play in this context? And what dynamics create closeness and distance between us? We embark on a search for rapprochement and fusion, using flying together as a poetic solution within our own limitations.

During a residency in Cottbus, we experimented on the facades and in the spaces of the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art in Cottbus.

LORELEY

Interdisciplinary aerial Performance

© Lara Gavriely u.a.

33 years of German unity - 33 years of the search for a great "we", a common identity. The exhibition WHO WE ARE. QUESTIONS TO AN IMMIGRANT COUNTRY poses the sceptical question of how this "we" can come into being in a society. Does identity only succeed through demarcation from "the others" or is there a path that leads to a new "we" that really means everyone? With the performance by the Frankfurt artist Naneci Yurdagül, we encounter LORELEY and ask ourselves the question: can a "we" come into being at all when countless different cultures and populations live together in a place where, above all, the private rights of the individual are enshrined in the Basic Law? Who is only her/himself is not even that. Self-reference is not possible without reference to the other. Identity does not exist without the other, the non-identical. On Unity Day, there must also be diversity, the recognition of the foreign and the celebration of the radical differences and contrasts of the various realities of life in the population and beyond. This is possible through solidarity that comes from the love of the stranger within ourselves.

Through LORELEY, Yurdagül is tentatively transported into this old German mythical figure herself, into a strange, even threatening being who triggers yearning and passionate desire, and yet is herself as lonely and needy as her victims. Loreley, who sits on a rock on the Rhine, close to heaven and close to the abyss - and who perhaps every human being can find again in all her contradictoriness and mysteriousness, in her own inner being.

CLOUDS IN THE SKY (AT)

Bungee dance research project

© Nashla Abdelnour

In this research project I investigate the possibilities and the limits of movement with a bungee/elastic rope. In relation to different inner states and mental health, I explore the body in space as well as while floating and falling. Everyday perceptions, balance and struggles of young people are key points of my content-related research. The book "Clouds in the sky" about  the nature of our thoughts and moods by Ivo Cussianovich with illustrations by Nashla Abdelnour will serve as an inspiration and base for video projection and animation.

A concept for an aerial dance production for a younger audience shall be created.

We bleed without being wounded

Bungee Dance for a radio play installation

© Lothar Herzog

This bungee - dance - video project is part of a radio play - installation, which invites one person at a time to an exclusive 60-minute performance and intense experience.

Inspired by the life and work of the Swedish painter Hilma af Klint, "We bleed without being wounded" questions death as a projection surface and deals with the universal power of transformation. Playing with insights from astro- and quantum physics and spiritual knowledge, the installation allows the human longing for freedom and immortality to grow wings.

Opening "Week of seaside architecture"

Vertical dance performance

© Inselfotograf u.a.

The opening show of the "Week of Seaside Architecture" in Heringsdorf was inspired by this beautiful place and its architecture. The result was an evening accompanied by walking acts with luminous giant fans that led from the concert shell, along the promenade, past the artfully illuminated houses to the spa clinic, where the dance and the play of colour on the facade expanded the space.

VERTICAL DANCE FUSION - Creative Laboratory

Vertical Dance Installation

© Sebastian Matthäus, Juan Leiba, Ronny Horning u.a.

In a laboratory, under the artistic guidance of Juan Leiba, a 30-minute vertical dance installation was created, in which six performers explore the vertical space, the in-between, the below and above. They are moved by inner states, the search for togetherness and common ground. Sometimes straying, sometimes levitating, they take the audience on a personal journey through the ruins of the Teufelsberg in Berlin. Vertical dance performances were also shown on other walls and surfaces of the historical site within the scope of the 1st Vertical Dance Fusion 2021 in Berlin.
